Laura Knight

Staffordshire figure imagery has been all about of late. Almost as much as chevrons, but not quite. Staffordshire earthenware figures were produced in the 17th century in and around Stoke-on-Trent, UK. The oft-used spaniel dogs have become a strong symbol of English design history (via artists such as Christopher Brown) however illustrator Laura Knight draws more on the vibrant costumed figures to reinvestigate the Staffordshire style, and after releasing a limited number of hand made scarves, is the subject of a profile in the current issue of Selvedge magazine.
