A very clever curator came up with this one: using the collection of the Smithsonian Archives of American Art to present the lists and organisational scribblings of artists. To-dos, Illustrated Inventories, Collected Thoughts and Other Artists' Enumerations is currently showing at the Morgan Library and Museum.
I can't help but love the final one, above, by architect Eero Saarinen, to his wife. The last remark makes it all the more charming.
